Jim Nielsen is a life-long Minnesotan. He was a Minnesota State Trooper for nearly 30 years, retiring as Sergeant in 2012. Though his primary duty was the enforcement of traffic laws on state and federal highways; his long career included far more. A great deal of his time was spent investigating automobile accidents, auto thefts, car dealership fraud as well as all the many investigations that the everyday traffic stop might bring. Many investigations require a thorough examination and collection of evidence, interviews, photographs and the packaging of a complete, readable report fit for prosecution.
In 2008 Jim completed his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Concordia University, St. Paul. He went on to teach Constitutional Law for Criminal Justice to undergrad students at the same University. In 2009 he was asked by the McLeod County Attorney to work as his fraud investigator and has held this position since. Jim is a member and past President of the Minnesota Fraud Investigator’s Association (MFIA). He is also a member of the Minnesota Association of Private Investigators (MAPI) where he receives continued training as required to maintain his Minnesota Private Investigator’s License.
Jim has extensive law enforcement and investigative experience. He is now putting his skills and experience to use in the private sector. Perhaps he can help you. Call for a free consultation.
Jim was chosen by the chief of the Minnesota State Patrol to serve as a member of an audit team with the Council on Crime and Justice for the duration of a racial profiling study in the city of Minneapolis (2004-2006). As a result of his two year immersion into the study of racial profiling, he authored A Report to Accompany the Traffic Stop Audit Project (2006). You may be surprised by his observations during and about this study.
